MINIMUM ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Age: Minimum 20 years on the first day of the internship.
  • Education: Enrolled in a university degree programme; or begin the internship within one year of completing a university degree; or completed a university degree and be sponsored as part of an academic or development programme.
  • Field of specialization: Environment, economics, business administration, ICT or a field relevant to UNIDO’s mandate and service areas.
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
  • Other skills: Proficiency in the use of standard software applications. Previous exposure in project management is an asset.

The Intern shall work under the direct supervision of an officer designated by the Director / Chief / UNIDO (Country) Representative of the [add the name of the recruiting office] and shall be engaged as follows:

  • Exposed to the regular core functions of the Country Office and as such shall have the opportunity to observe the day-to-day operations and engage in on-the-job training in specific actions delegated by the supervisor.
  • Engaged in a specific self-contained assignment described below:
  • Support the Country Office to promote and implement the self – starter Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) Kenya and its technical cooperation (TC) activities, through on-demand based project identification and development, resource and partnership mapping, and reporting.
  • Support UNIDO’s participation in the SDG Partnership Platform technical working groups.
  • Support collection and consolidation of information and data for reporting of UNSDCF reports and UNIDO periodic reports  
  • Participate in UN technical working group(s), seminars, meetings, conferences and other stakeholder meetings and prepare briefs for the office.
  • Compile best practice and lessons learned on key thematic areas of UNIDO’s interventions
  • Assist with the organization and reporting of virtual and physical meetings, workshops, seminars and other similar activities
  • Support communication of UNIDO initiatives and activities.
  • Provide ICT support to the field office and project staff including implementing, managing and maintaining ICT services & providing onsite ICT support
  • Perform duties as assigned.
  • Support other special emerging projects that may enhance the learning experience of the intern.
  • The Intern will be required to prepare an end-of-internship report to be submitted to and cleared by UNIDO Internship Coordination.
